April is Financial Literacy Month! At TP Event Rentals we want to show the importance of financial literacy and contribute to a strong future for our clients. We’d like to share some ideas on how you can plan an event on a budget and still put on an incredible event.

10 Tips to Plan Your Event on a Budget:

  1. Start with prioritizing. Know what is most important to you or your organization so those needs can be taken care of and your goals are met.

  2. Create a budget. Do this right away so you start out on the right foot. Adjust and reallocate as needed along the way. It can be as simple as an Excel spreadsheet or you can utilize one of the many free online budgeting templates online.

  3. Utilize evites and social media to promote your event and invite people. These are great ways to save money on stationary and printing and are just as effective.

  4. Serve hors d'oeuvres instead of a full meal. Appetizers can be much more cost effective than a buffet or plated meal. Choose foods that are also in season to help reduce costs.

  5. Use what you have for decor. There are many items you already have that can be used as decor. Reuse decor from past events as well. Reach out to your friends and network to see what you can borrow.

  6. Know the layout of the event space and plan ahead so you can limit set up time and reduce the hours you have the venue reserved for. Make a list of what needs to be done and when so you can delegate as well.

  7. Take advantage of Facebook Marketplace. There are endless options for decor and entertainment. You can find great items like frames, vases, signage, photobooths or games like corn hole.

  8. Ask your vendors what other services they provide. By bundling services you can get a better deal. If they don’t provide a service you’re looking for, they might have a recommendation that could help you get a deal.

  9. Stick with beer and wine if you are serving alcohol. Hard liquor can become expensive, especially with all of the mixers and garnishes.

  10. Get sponsors. Connect with local restaurants and vendors to see if they will negotiate or provide a sponsorship for your event.

Every event is different and there are so many aspects that can be adjusted to fit your budget and event needs. We hope these 10 tips have sparked something in you to put on the event of your dreams while remaining within your budget.

Let TP Event Rentals help bring your vision to life—creating unforgettable moments, one tent at a time.
